In the Forest

 Since getting a flash and a diffuser, I've been encouraged to venture into nearby forests such as Cooper's Rock and adjacent to the West Virginia Botanical Garden.  The weather has been warm and accompanied by heavy rain.  Good mushroom weather.

The old me would have been harvesting edible mushroom, but the difference between mushrooms from West Virginia and Southwestern New York have me a lot more cautious.

This is a False Caesar's Mushroom that I was along the Rock City trail in Cooper's Rock State Forest.

 Not sure of the exact species of this mushroom in the Russula genus.  I think it's interesting that the russula is lifting a clod of moss that was over the top of it.  

I found these Red Chanterelles in the woods at the West Virginia Botanical Garden near Morgantown.  I used to love find the yellow chanterelle back home and I would be able to pick a small basket of them.

Unfortunately, the two mushrooms below were all I saw.

Hi, I'm a Bitter Bolete growing at the base of a tree at Cooper's Rock.  Please don't eat me.

I have more mushrooms to work with, but I haven't posted them yet. 

Off the subject of mushroom (and toadstools), here's an old looking fence along the upperpart of Rattlesnake Trail.
